NEW Oil Paintings
Wake Forest Town Hall
“Wake Forest Town Hall”
18" x 24" oil on canvas
Wake Forest, North Carolina is producing a book for the 2009 Centennial and I was asked to do a painting of the first Town Hall to be included. I painted this from a black and white photograph dated January 1973, the building was completed in 1930. This municipal building is located at 221 South Brooks Street also housed the Wake Forest Fire Department 1 until it moved into the American Circle Service Station at 350 South White Street in 1973. The 1970 Chevrolet Caprice in front of the building dates the street scene. I love painting old buildings which is the exact reason the historic society asked me to make the building look as beautiful as I have other old buildings. To me it was an honor and privilege.

Holden's Barbeque
“Holden's Barbeque”
18" x 24" oil on canvas
(SOLD)
Holden's BBQ is a historic landmark located in Wake Forest North Carolina. B.P. and Bertha Holden started Holden's Barbecue in 1964. This was when the BBQ house was built, which is the small building on the left. The restaurant was added in 1967. Their youngest son Neil took over the family business in 1980. This place may look "plain" on the outside, but it is wonderful! "Best eastern NC style in North Carolina." Barbecue sauce is sweet vinegar. The sliced style barbecue is outstanding and so are the sides. Don't let the unpaved parking and outward appearance stop you from dining here.

Artist Statement
“I am a realist artist because I believe in painting what I can see. What God has so perfectly created. I do not want my art to shock people, but comfort them. I want people to look at my work and see the peace that God has created.” As part of my beliefs, I have applied to all of my original and print oil paintings the scripture reference Psalms 9:1
“I will praise the Lord with all of my heart; I will tell of His wonderful works.”
