As I sat painting for days at Shelley Lake in Sertoma Park, I enjoyed not only the wonderful view but the company of many visitors as they passed by to see me and my artwork. Even though I have been coming to this park located just behind my house in Raleigh, North Carolina for 13 years, "Shelley Lake" is my first oils painting which captures this beauty on canvas. When my son was small, we would swing on the swings and ride bikes around the paths taking in the full beauty. This park is such a special place, I decided to do a series of Shelley Lake in Sertoma Park as I marvel at creation and come in contact with my neighborhood community.
